Youth Baseball

High Desert Baseball League provides organized, competitive youth baseball for local players in the 8U, 10U, and 12U age groups. The spring season features consistent practices, weekend games, and competition against nearby communities. Our goal is to create a high-quality baseball experience that fits into family life.

Ages

Players at least 8 years old - 12 years old who have completed at least one full year of organized baseball

When

Season usually begins when the fields and weather cooperate. In recent years the practice will start early March.

Where

Practices will be held at Durango Parks and Rec fields. Games will be played in the Four Corners region.

Practices

Teams practice 2-3 times per week.

Games

Teams will play 15+ games over the course of the season and will usually fall on the weekends. There will be 4 tournaments, one each month.

Jerseys + Hats

Jerseys and Hats will be provided. Players are responsible for grey pants, black belt and black socks.

Extra Costs

Team managers will collect funds to cover per player tournament entry fees.

Additional hats, hoodies (swag) will be available to purchase.

How much travel is required?

Travel is intentionally limited. Most games are within a short drive and allow families to return home the same day.

Is playing time equal?

Playing time is development-focused, especially at younger ages. At older levels, playing time may be influenced by effort, attendance, and team needs.

What does the registration fee include?

Registration typically covers uniforms, field use, league administration, umpires, insurance, and equipment.

Are there additional costs?

Families may be responsible for personal equipment such as cleats, glove, and bat. Limited fundraising opportunities may be available.

Do you offer financial assistance?

Financial assistance options may be available depending on the season. Please reach out to the league if you need assistance.

What is expected of families?

High Desert Baseball League relies on active family involvement. This may include field prep, concessions, team support, or event coordination.

Do parents have to coach?

No. Coaching is just one of many ways families can support the league.

Do families have a voice in league decisions?

Yes. Under our bylaws, all registered families become voting members of the organization.

How will we receive schedules and updates?

Schedules, team communication, and updates are managed through the Crossbar platform and mobile app.

What happens if a game is canceled due to weather?

Weather-related updates will be communicated as quickly as possible through Crossbar.

Is the league insured?

Yes, the league carries appropriate insurance coverage.

What safety policies are in place?

We follow standard youth baseball safety guidelines, including concussion awareness and player safety protocols.
